UNDERSTAND THE IMAGE

A hendecagon has 11 sides and 11 vertices.

A hendecagon is a polygon with 11 straight sides. This diagram shows a regular hendecagon: all its sides have equal length and all its interior angles are equal. An irregular hendecagon still has 11 sides, but its sides and angles do not all have to be equal.

Try it in class

  • Choose a starting vertex, then count all 11 sides without counting the first side twice.
  • Point to a side and a vertex. Explain how they are different.
  • Compare this shape with another polygon. What changes when you add one side?

One image, plenty of uses
