How it works
Teacher guide
Crosswords work best when answers share several common letters. A varied mix of short and medium-length words usually creates a clearer, more compact grid.
Match the clue to the learning goal: use a definition for recall, an example sentence for context, or a concept prompt when students must retrieve subject knowledge.
The generator never silently drops an answer. If every word cannot connect, revise the list or remove an isolated term, then generate again.

Ready to print
The student puzzle and clue list are placed on separate pages so longer clues remain readable. When enabled, the completed grid is added as a separate answer page. Answers must contain 2–15 English letters without spaces; clues can contain normal English text and punctuation.
Questions, answered
Every answer must connect through a shared letter. Try words with more letters in common, add a useful bridging word, or reduce the list. The tool does not return an incomplete crossword.
